Who's in The Shed?

Hi I'm Cliff, a freelance graphic designer and illustrator, at your service.

Naturally quiet and thoughtful, but always friendly and approachable, I am a believer in good communication - it's the key to any successful partnership.

I love working with people who are passionate about their business or project, whether they know exactly what they want or have no idea, I know the questions to ask to find the solution.

I have been drawing and creating my whole life, from the minute I could pick up a pencil, often designing cars like the one below!

Most of my career has been designing products in a 3D CAD environment across a number of industries. This has given me some useful skills, some of which have transferred nicely to the graphic design field.

I have always had a passion for design and aesthetics - if something doesn't look right or have good balance, it bugs the hell out of me!

My process normally begins with a pencil sketch, but at some point it has to be turned into a digital file. For this I use a vector based program.

Creating logos and visual assets using a vector format allows the design to be scaled up or down without losing any quality, this is essential when designing any files that will be printed in a large format. If you try enlarging a raster-based image such as a JPEG or PNG, it will become pixelated and blurry - not good!

The 'shed' part was born from the fact that when I was trying to come up with a name for the business (which took way too long btw!), I was staring out the window and noticed my old garden shed, which I joked about using shed in the name. However it stuck and as a side note, my studio is in a converted garage - which is essentially a big shed!
